The Great State of

Montana Proclaims

Sat. January 22, to be
LOCAL QUILT SHOP DAY

In recognition of the importance of independent quilt shops to local economies, January 22,  is proclaimed to be Local Quilt Shop Day throughout Montana.

Local Quilt Shop Day is an annual arts celebration focusing on the rich tradition and history of quilting in our communities. This internationally celebrated holiday emphasizes the importance of Local Quilt Shops and their significant contributions and economic impact on local communities.

Local quilt shops not only provide supplies for quilting, but also serve as a center of learning and creativity for quilters and sewers embracing quilting. Through this unique art form, our communities and our history are stitched, layered, and bound together.

Celebrated on January 22, 2022 this year, Local Quilt Shop Day was established by The Fabric Shop Network, a trade association that represents over 5,000 local quilt shop owners globally. To participate is easy – The Fabric Shop Network encourages the public to visit their local quilt shops in person or online on Saturday January 22, 2022. Check with your local quilt shop for hours and days open as they may be impacted by local / state health guidelines.

The Fabric Shop Network is a trade organization for independent fabric and quilt retailers. As an organization, we provide comprehensive resources and services to help educate, connect, and support our members worldwide. Libby Area Chamber launches YouTube

Channel and Blog

Submitted by Myranda Cravens

The Libby Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the Monday, January 10th launch of a YouTube channel and Blog to showcase the experience of Libby and the surrounding area.  “We are excited to kick off this ambitious plan to counter the stigma that lingers on web searches that yield headlines of Libby being ‘The Town Left To Die’,” said Myranda Cravens, Libby Chamber General Manager. Cravens said, “Our YouTube Channel and Blog will reflect the awesome realities of calling this area home.”

As part of the ongoing Libby rebranding initiative the Chamber Board has been working on since 2017, the Chamber Board set a goal of highlighting the positives of life in the Libby area. The Libby Chamber applied for Grant Funding from several entities and were successfully awarded a total of $90k for a two-year launch of this very aspiring and creative collaborative project.  “We are thankful for grant funding from the Montana Department of Tourism, the WR Grace Foundation, and Glacier Country Tourism that will allow the Chamber to fulfill this goal,” said Cravens.

Project funds will be used to contract with Big Sky Media, a Libby business, for creation of video content as well as Windfall Communications, a creative agency specializing in digital marketing and search engine optimization.

Cravens noted that the Chamber sees nearly unlimited opportunities to support and promote our membership businesses and the Libby community with the project with opportunities for our membership to engage, submit content, submit blog posts, and input on future videos concepts.

Cravens said, “Libby is a great place to live and it is time we highlight that for ourselves, for potential visitors and for those that may want to relocate or start a business here.”

The public can access the Chamber’s YouTube Channel content by searching “Libby Area Chamber of Commerce” on YouTube or visit the Blog Site at www.LibbyChamber.org/NothingElseisEvenClose. Content will be uploaded to both platforms every other Monday.
