The Libby Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off a new after-hours business networking event, Business & Banter, Thursday evening at the Chamber building. The event, which will be held monthly, provides Chamber members and other interested individuals the opportunity to meet and network with each other in a relaxed, informal setting.
Nearly 30 guests attended the evening function to enjoy food, drinks, and social interaction with other local business professionals. The attendees expressed positive feedback about the event and the new direction being taken by the Chamber.
“It was encouraging to see people supporting the chamber at their Business and Banter kickoff,” said Kim Peck of Glacier Insurance. “This community is coming together and working toward the same goal, to help Libby win. Baby steps, but we have the right people leading this push. The chamber is making a point to support our businesses and encourage more tourism. As a business owner, I appreciate their positive efforts and drive.”
Tina Oliphant, executive director of the Kootenai River Development Council and the Lincoln County Port Authority said she has been pleased with the renewed energy of the Chamber.
“When I think of the energy and proactive leadership going on at the Chamber, I am reminded how vital civic entrepreneurship will be to our community development strategies,” she said. “The Libby Chamber is the key anchor in our efforts to create a more dynamic business community, and I am pleased and heartened about the new direction… and their sliders and barbeque sauce weren’t bad either.”
Kate Stephens, Cabinet Peaks Medical Center marketing manager and foundation executive director, said she is looking forward to future Business & Banter events in the coming months. Cabinet Peaks is hosting the next Business & Banter, scheduled for July 20, 2017.
“The Chamber put together a wonderful event last night,” Stephens said. “The atmosphere was casual and refreshing, and it was great to catch up and network with so many of our local business professionals outside of the work place. I have no doubt Business and Banter will only continue to grow in popularity over the upcoming months. We are thrilled to be hosting July’s event at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, and hope to see everyone there!”
