Nine hearty folks enjoyed a day of animal tracking and sign interpretation sponsored by Silver Cloud Associates and Friends of Scotchman Peaks on Saturday, Jan. 20. De-spite poor tracking conditions, the group found tracks and signs of mink, otter, striped skunk, raven, snowshoe hare, pileated woodpecker, pine squirrel, and white-tailed deer. They also spotted bufflehead ducks, tundra swans, bald eagles, and a muskrat swimming. A good time was had by all in attendance. The next free adult class that will be held in Libby will focus on winter ecology, The class will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17. Contact annie@scotchmanpeaks.org or call (406) 475-2847 to register.
