Hoop shoot benefit

The Libby Elks lodge held a fundraising event to support local hoop shoot competitors on Friday, March 2. The event included raffle items as well as pie, cake and ice cream by donation. Ryan Beagle, a sixth grade student will be headed to Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday, March 9 to participate in the next round of competitions after winning the local hoop shoot event for his age group and moving on to Pablo to take first place as well. Isaac Lamere, a Libby fifth grader also attended the Pablo event and took second place. Both athletes attended the Elks event with their families as did past winner, Ryggs Johnston, who made it to nationals for the hoop shoot competition twice when he was younger.  Betty Jo Wood, Ryan Beagle’s mom told The Montanian, “We really appreciate the Elks hosting a send off for Ryan and supporting our local Elks hoop shoot. It’s a great event.” Funds raised were given to the hoop shooters to help with travel expenses. Photo by Tracy McNew, The Montanian
