Independence Day

By Brian Baxter

Yaak community members came together in support of their local school with area artists and craftspeople setting up over 24 booths on July 6th, at the Yaak School grounds. Interesting and diversified artists, craftspeople, and vendors, all commented that they had done fairly well at this years event. Most participants donated a healthy percent of their sales to the school for library needs, materials, and school field trips. The kids had a great time too, as one little face painted pirate boy commented to this reporter and Angelo Alderete, husband of Sabre’, the new Yaak School teacher. The Yaak River Tavern also celebrated with kids games, a horseshoe tournament, food vendors, fireworks, and music by Rob Quist & Great Northern, featuring Halladay Quist. A good time was had by all.
