LCCF opening grant process

The Lincoln County Community foundation is about to begin accepting grant applications for the annual granting process, according to Paula Darko-Hensler, Chairman of the LCCF.  Since 2000 the Foundation has given over $150,000 to the charitable organizations of south Lincoln County.  In order for an organization to be eligible for a grant they must be a 501 c 3 tax-exempt organization or tax-exempt governmental organization.

LCCF accepts donations in any amount for the permanent endowment managed by the Montana Community Foundation.  There are certain tax advantages from Montana available to individuals who give a planned give or a corporation who wants to contribute.  The individual has the charitable giving deduction available to them also.  Contact Darko-Hensler as to how this can be done.  Building the endowment through gifts to LCCF only makes more available for grants.  The endowment will never be spent, only the earnings.

“We are so proud of all that we have been able to give to tax exempt charities in south Lincoln County.  The grants come from an endowment

of just over $200,000.  Just think….over $150,000 in grants from that amount over the last 17 years. That is remarkable.  There is over $9000 available for grants this year.”

To apply for a grant, go to the Montana Community Foundation website, and go to the About tab and follow down to Local Foundations.  LCCF website is there with a downloadable application.  They must be submitted between August 1 and 31, 2017, and MAILED and POSTMARKED no later than August 31, 2017.  They can be mailed to POBox 490, Libby, MT 59923 to the attention of Distribution Committee.
