The Kootenai Valley Quilt Guild, in association with the Troy Tender Lovin’ Quilters, will host internationally known quilter, designer and teacher Debbie Maddy the weekend of September 28-30.   Among her many quilting interests, Debbie is a pattern designer for Calico Carriage Quilt Designs, a fabric designer for Moda Fabrics, and is an internationally traveling teacher for quilt guilds and quilt shops. She has been seen on Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson for HGTV.

In 2013, and again in 2015, Debbie was nominated for Teacher of the Year by the International Association of Professional Crafters. In 2014, Debbie taped her first online quilt class for Craftsy. Her quest for all things new has brought her to the world of fiber dyeing. She loves all kinds of dyeing from the ancient art of Indigo to the fun newer art of Ice Dye. In 2016, she travelled to Japan for ten days to further her study of Shibori and Indigo.

On Friday, Sept. 28, Debbie will present a lecture and trunk show at the Libby VFW at 7 p.m. The lecture will introduce her unique ”No Diamonds/No ‘Y’ Seams” method of designing beautiful, complicated-looking quilts that are simple to master.

The public is welcome to this event. Admission is $5 for non-guild members. On Saturday and Sunday, Debbie will present workshops on two of her unique quilt designs to members of the Libby and Troy guilds.
