Kootenai River Stampede

This year’s Kootenai River Stampede PRCA Rodeo, part of the all American ProRodeo series was held at J. Neils Park last weekend, July 27 and 28. With about 2,000 in the crowd it was defiantly a packed full event.

Whiplash the cowboy monkey along with his steed Boogie starred along with the rodeo clowns Timber Tuckness and the Village Idiots providing first class entertainment to all in attendance.

There was a beer garden for the adults and face painting for the kids. Rosauer’s deli even made cookies celebrating the rodeo.

The Libby High School seniors even got a chance to raid some money for Close-up a trip that send LHS seniors to Washington D.C.  They coordinated incoming traffic and parking  accepting donations for  the upcoming trip.

New Justin boots were awarded to winners of the calf scramble children’s’ event on both nights, and A 30-06 rifle was raffled. There were a total of 12 vendors onsite including Simple Simon’s Pizza and Creek Coffee Roasters.

Rodeo events included bull riding, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and team roping.

The winners of the events were: Bareback riding: Trevor McAllister 80 points, Steer Wrestling: Jacob Stacy 6.2 seconds, Saddlebronc riding: Tate Owens 81 points, Tie Down roping: Caleb McMillan 9.6 seconds, Team Roping: Travis Winters and Jacob Goddard 24.2 seconds on two, Barrel Racing: Mary Walker 17.67 seconds, and Bull riding: Luke Gee 78 points
