Libby VFW’s Wall of Happiness

By Moira Blazi

Tuesday, March 20 was not only the spring equinox, but also “international happiness day,” a promotion began and promoted by HappyActs.org.
The Local VFW post jumped into the fun with a “wall of happiness,” a display of individually written happy thoughts and intentions. Post canteen manager Jule Mason told the Montanian that she saw it on Facebook last year and decided to participate. Along with post members and canteen staff including bartenders Reesy Pagacz, Ashley Perkins, Shae Monro and post member Sandi Kennelty, she ordered the starter kit of supplies which included stretchy orange bracelets which say “live happy” and individual sticky notes saying “I will share happiness by…” A reminder on the bottom says, “happy acts are small things with a big impact.”
About 50 folks took the time to write a thought or intention and post it on the wall. “I just think it’s fun,” said Mason, “it is the first day of spring and an absolutely wonderful thing to do.”
