Libby High School senior Shannon Reny has received a great opportunity in the form of a scholarship.
Through hard work and dedication, Reny will be attending Montana State University (MSU) Billings where she will continue on with her education and basketball career with an Honor Scholarship.
Students offered this scholarship must be graduates of an accredited Montana high school with a minimum grade point average of 3.4 at the end of the first semester of their senior year.
The MUS Honor Scholarship is a renewable scholarship offered by the Montana Board of Regents that waives undergraduate tuition for up to eight semesters at any campus of the Montana University System.
Reny said in an email to The Montanian, “ I’m really excited to continue my education and basketball career at MSU Billings.”
Reny is also very proud of her hometown Libby roots and she gives credit to the people in her life and the Libby community.
“It has been the biggest blessing growing up in this community. The support and guidance I have received from teachers, coaches, and everyone throughout the community is something I will never be able to say thank you for enough. It’s cool I get to say, Yeah, I grew up in Libby, for the rest of my life,” Reny said.
Reny is one of only 239 students offered this scholarship statewide.
Montana’s Commissioner of Higher Education, Clayton Christian said, “Investing in student education is the greatest thing we can do for Montana.”
Reny is excited to continue on with her education and plans to study Secondary Education at MSU Billings. She will go on to represent small town Libby, Mont. in a big way.
Congratulations, you go get them girl!
