Betty Jean Hill, 62, of Libby

Betty Jean Hill, 62, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Libby Care Center. She was born Aug. 12, 1955, in Harlem, Mont. to George and Eleanor (Lindsay) Allery.

Bette was raised in Libby, Mont. where she attended school, worked at the Libby Care Center, and gave birth to her son Jason Phelps on April 7, 1976.

Bette left Libby around 1978, moving to Oregon where she fell in love with the coast. Bette’s journey continued on to southern Calif. where she met and married Bob Hill, on Aug. 29, 1988.

Bette attended the San Diego City College and worked at a variety of jobs prior to purchasing her own business. In Nov. 1998, Bette opened her Deli, Creative Croissants, in San Diego, Calif. where she worked for several years. Bette left Southern Calif., moving back to Mont. for a short time prior to moving to Northern Calif. Bette moved back to Mont. around 2008 at which time she went to work for the Town Pump. Bette challenged every aspect of life. She was spirited, strong willed and always stood her ground.

Bette was preceded in death by grandparents, her father Donald Hutton, nephews Ray and Anthony Hutton and many other relatives.

Survivors include her son Jason Phelps, Vancouver, Wash.; her mother Eleanor Lindsay, Libby, Mont.; siblings George Hutton, Libby, Mont.; Donna Parrish, Libby, Mont.; Raymond Hutton, San Diego, Calif.; Cindy Hutton, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Bruce Hutton, Harrah, Wash.; and Grace Hutton, Libby, Mont.

Dean Morigeau, 76, of Libby

Dean Morigeau, 76, of Libby, passed away on July 30, 2018 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 16, 1942 in Helena, Mont. He was raised and attended elementary and middle school in Ronan, Mont. He attended Libby High School where he graduated in 1960. After high school, Dean attended Carroll College in Helena, Mont. on a basketball scholarship where he played as their starting forward/guard for four years. He was inducted into the Carroll College Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982 along with his high school basketball coach, Bill Racicot. After graduating from Carroll in 1965, Dean enlisted in the US Army.

Dean went to Army Basic and Army Infantry Training at Fort Ord, California. After graduating jump school in Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne, 5th Special Forces Group, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While in 5th SFG Dean would complete several combat and reconnaissance tours in Vietnam and Cambodia between 1965 and 1971. After the Army, Dean attended Santa Clara University School of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1972. After passing the California State Bar, he would spend more than 30 years as a maritime lawyer for Morigeau Maritime and American President Lines.

He leaves behind wife, Corliss (Corky) Nelson, Libby, Montana; and son, David Morigeau from Salem, Oregon.

Dean was loved by his family. He definitely got an extended family when he moved to Libby with Corky’s 10 children, 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. They kept his life very busy and entertaining. He had an unforgettable spirit. His strong and warm personality, as well as his jokes will be missed greatly by those that knew him. He will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
