The fall of an empire; similarities to the U.S

Oppressive taxation combined with fiscal irresponsibility. Devaluation of the official currency. Ever-widening divisions between the common people and the ruling classes. Decayed morals. Abandoned values. Betrayed trusts. Acceptance and celebration of sexual perversion. Persecution of Christians and Christianity, wholesale slaughter of innocent babies. Depopulation by deadly plague. The excessive influx of illegal aliens from unfriendly nations. The sacrifice of individual freedom for the security of the state.

Does all of this sound familiar to you? It should. It describes the Roman Empire shortly before its collapse.
