Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Julienne Lippe Joins Cabinet Peaks Clinics

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Julienne Lippe has joined Cabinet Peaks Clinics as an Orthopedic Surgeon to help continue to bring needed services to Lincoln County.

With over ten years of experience in medicine, Dr. Lippe is committed to collaborating closely with her patients to assist them in attaining their healthcare objectives. Her primary focus is providing top quality care to her patients. Dr. Lippe obtained her Doctorate of Medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed her Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Connecticut. She has been practicing at Mercy Clinic Orthopedics in Saint Louis for several years. While working for Mercy Clinic, she had the opportunity to work with multiple high school sports programs and was a key member of the medical team for the St. Louis Cardinals.

At Cabinet Peaks Clinic, our orthopedic practice will specialize in diagnosing and treating problems involving the soft tissues, bones, and joints of the extremities. We offer a range of medical, surgical, and physical therapy treatments to restore function, and our services include minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the upper and lower extremities (including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgeries); joint replacement of the shoulder, hip and knee; sports and industrial injuries; fracture care and sports medicine coverage.

“Dr. Lippe is an outstanding addition to our provider team here in Libby,” stated Tadd Greenfield, Chief Executive Officer at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center. “She comes to Cabinet Peaks Clinic with outstanding large hospital training and experience and is extremely well-regarded by her colleagues. While she is extremely qualified and accomplished, Dr. Lippe is the most personable Orthopedic Surgeon that I have met in my 20 years of healthcare management. We are very fortunate to have such a personable and skilled orthopedic surgeon in Libby, Montana.”

Julienne, and her husband Bill are very excited about their move to Libby, “We both grew up in small towns and have been a part of that type of community. In a small town, everyone knows everyone, and this creates a feeling of closeness and connection that is hard to find in larger cities,” stated Dr. Lippe. “Moving to Libby was not a hard choice for us. We always vacationed in destinations with trees and mountains and NW Montana has always been our favorite. We fell in love with Libby the moment we drove into town. The community has been so welcoming and friendly, and we are excited to give back and support Lincoln County.”

In their spare time, Julienne and Bill love to spend time outdoors with their 2 Ridgeback dogs. They love to hike, fly fish, ski, and garden. “We feel very blessed to be given the opportunity to live and work in such an amazing community.”

CARD Statement
Regarding BNSF Lawsuit

The Center For Asbestos related disease (CARD) is a small medical clinic in Libby, Montana, dedicated to serving past and present members of the libby community who have been exposed to Libby Amphibole Asbestos. CARD screens patients to determine if their health has been affected by Libby Amphibole Asbestos exposure. Since 2011, CARD has conducted over 7,000 asbestos health screenings and over 3,500 lung cancer screenings. CARD’s important work is funded largely by federal grants administered by the Agency for Toxic Substances Disease Registry (ATSDR) and the centers for Disease Control (CDC).

After BNSF filed this lawsuit against CARD in 2019 alleging that CARD had been committing Medical fraud, the office of the inspector General for the Department of health and human Services investigated the claims asserted By BNSF in its lawsuit. CARD cooperated fully with the office of the inspector General in the investigation, and ATSDR and CDC were aware of the investigation. After investigating the claims, the office of the inspector General and the U.S. Department of Justice decided not to pursue any claims against CARD. Meanwhile ATSDR and CDC renewed CARD’s screening grant and provided more funding for CARD to continue screening and treating persons who have been exposed to asbestos in the Libby area.

Because the united states government has refused to prosecute BNSF’s claims against CARD, BNSF is now trying to prosecute this law suit on its own. CARD notes that BNSF filed this lawsuit after the Asbestos Claims Court, later affirmed by the Montana Supreme Court, ruled that BNSF was strictly liable for the harm it caused to persons affected by asbestos exposure in the Libby area.

CARD has been subjected to similar attacks by large cooperate interests in the past. WR Grace made similar claims against CARD in an attempt to undermine CARD’s work in treating individuals exposed in Libby. As WR Grace tried to do, BNSF is using this lawsuit to try to prevent CARD from screening and treating Libby area people for asbestos-related diseases.

CARD will face these unfounded claims head on and looks forward to defending the care it provides to the Libby community in federal district court , and CARD looks forward to continuing to serve its patients and their community.
