On Friday April 5, former Marine Corps Sgt. Bill Lafrance and Marine Corps Lt. General Frank Libutti met in Polson. Both former Marines were there to honor Cpl. James Stogner from Noxon, that was awarded the distinguished Navy Cross for Valor award. General Libutti, a young second lieutenant back then was a platoon commander with the 1st Bn. 9th Marines. Lafrance was attached to his battalion though fought with the South Vietnamese as an advisor. General Libutti now retired resides in Florida, Lafrance remains active as an officer of V.F.W. Post 5514 in Troy.
