Annual Shoot for Pink

Submitted by Tamara Crismore

The ninth annual Shoot For Pink benefiting the Mary Kay Foundation had three teams for a total of 14 Shooters gather in Kalispell to kick off the event on Wednesday, May 15. Participants gathered pledges, sponsored teams, and cheered each other on. This year we were excited to be supported by Dustin Gunderson’s team again and the addition of KRH’s three teams (one shooting in Libby on Saturday).

On Saturday the 18th in Libby the weather drizzled but did not dampen our nine teams shooting. The pledges are still being gathered and turned in, but we are confident that we outdid last year. Our community support and support from across the whole U.S. is amazing. We had donations from almost every state. This event is so fun and fast with the most gracious group of people I’ve ever worked with helping to pull it off. Libby Scatterguns and Scholastic Clay Target Program Team were there to keep the trap house full and scoring flowing. The sponsors and businesses that support us humble us as they come up and thank us for putting the event together. They are the best of the best.

Mary Kay will have our tally and announce who made the Top 50 Nationwide this coming July. Last year we were #4 in the nation with over $14,000 raised. The Mary Kay Foundation raises money for much needed cutting edge cancer research grants and domestic violence prevention programs. This past year the Lincoln County Crisis Solutions in Libby was awarded a $20,000 grant from The Mary Kay Foundation. A full list of grant recipients can be seen on the website.  If you know of a shelter needing a grant or someone who should apply for funding for research please be sure to visit the website www.marykay foundation.org for more information.
