Arbor Day tree planting

The Libby tree board, in conjunction with the society of American Foresters and the national Forest Service, sponsored multiple tree plantings in Libby to celebrate Arbor day, April 27, 2018. Beginning at Riverfront Park, a group of volunteers planted four flowering crab trees around the veteran’s memorial statue. Assisted by our local boy scout troop, volunteers Bob Cansenada, Russ Gautreax, Brian Baxter, Vicki Lawrence, Wayne Maas, Tom Maffei, Celesta Collacchi, Jana Hall, Becky Guerra and others, planted the trees immediately preceding an Arbor Day proclamation, read by Libby Mayor Brent Teske, extoling the many and amazing benefits of trees. On hand to accept the monument addition on behalf of veterans, were VFW post members Keith Kennelly, and Gary Dodge. In addition to the flowering crab, two maples were planted at Fireman’s Park.
