Hazard Tree Removal to start soon along Hwy. 37

The U.S. Forest Service will soon be conducting hazard tree removal along Highway 37.

The Forest Service is expecting to remove approximately 20 hazard trees by the Dream Marine east to USFS cache and property adjacent to the tennis courts. The tree falling operation is expected to start on Wednesday, May 22 at 0900 and be completed by Thursday, May 23.

The Forest Service has contracted with a local contractor to fall theses dead trees. All of the limbing and bucking will be done by Forest Service crews, with the assistance of the Libby YCC crew. If not sold, some of the wood will then be transported to the district campgrounds to be used as firewood. Firewood gathering is not permitted unless otherwise signed.

The state Department of Transportation will provide highway safety flagging. Please drive slow during the tree falling operation as people and equipment will be present during that time.

If you have any questions, please contact the Libby Ranger District at 406-293-7773.
