Mabel Gail Ohland, 85, of Libby

Mabel Gail Ohland, 85, of Libby, MT passed away at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center on Monday, August 1, 2022.  She was born July 28, 1937 in Seattle, Washington to Ira and Mabel (Dale) Williams.  Always going by the name, Gail, she attended school and graduated from college as a Licensed Dietician.  Much of her work experience was in various nursing homes in the Spokane area.  While living in Spokane, Gail one day found herself broke-down on the side of the road.  Greg Ohland happened to be traveling by and stopped to help her out.  That was the beginning of a love that lasted the rest of her life.  Greg and Gail were married in Spokane on December 2, 1983.  They lived there for a short time and soon knew that their lives belonged in Montana.  They moved to Libby in 1984 and have enjoyed life here.

Gail loved to travel.  She and Greg spent a lot of time traveling the northwest in their RV.  She loved fishing the lakes, creeks, and rivers along the way.  She actually enjoyed running the log splitter, as they got their own firewood.  Gail had many talents, one of which was helping Greg build racing motors and cars.  He says she was a better mechanic than he.  She also enjoyed cooking, knitting and fixing up their home.  Gail valued her Catholic faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Greg of Libby; daughters Judy Carney and Jackie Everts both of Spokane; grandsons Travis Carney and Brandon Carney; and 2 great grandchildren.  Local arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby.  Online memories and condolences may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.

“You have given a banner to those who fear You, that it may be displayed because of the truth.  That Your beloved may be delivered, save with Your right hand and hear me.  Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless.  Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.”  “Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer.  From the end of the earth I will cry to You.”  Psalm 60:4-5, 11-12, Psalm 61:1-2a
